Networking -- the word makes me cringe. If you look it up in the dictionary it should read, "Friendships with a motive."
The idea seems cold and detached to me. Mixing, mingling, discussing life goals and my five-year plan just doesn't sound like much fun. In five years, the only thing I can hope for is that my car will be paid off and my dog will be fully house trained. For many of my peers, this probably isn't the case. I'm sure some attend these type events to meet like-minded people and other up-and-coming professionals in their area.
But, I can't knock it until I try it. So, I'm going to network. I'm taking a friend with me and inviting you to come along. The notice says the event is a "wine and cheese networking/social hour." Since my friends and I gather weekly for wine and cheese nights, I'm feeling at ease knowing my friends Swiss, Munster and Gouda will be in attendance. The event is Thursday night and reservations are a must. Here are the details.

The fact that they are asking people to call someone named FeFe scares me a little bit. Bummer it doesn't mention anything about microbiology networking...if it did, I would go.
Ha, I talked to FeFe and she's really nice! The only thing that could make networking a more unappealing word is if you put microbiology in front of it!
Do you eat munster cheese or muenster cheese, because you had better know the difference before you go boasting cheese skills.
Muenster cheese is an American cheese, only vaguely related to the French Munster cheese. Muenster has an orange rind with a white interior.
I like them both.
I can't wait for the trolley! I hope they have Brie!!!!!
Kate, you never said anything about the shreezle having a trolley. I'm sold. The city won't be the same if y'all bring your wine and cheese night out of doors, heha!!! Watch out!!!
Oh yeah, I LOVE CHEESE!!
Glad you looked that up on Wikipedia.
Sammy quit being such a munster!
How was the trolley thing? I would have liked to attend, but was in Dallas last night.
